PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a driving method thereof are provided to remove a luminance non-uniformity effect by shifting a polarity control signal during a horizontal period each frame. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display panel(144) includes data lines and gate lines which cross the data lines. A polarity signal control unit(200) inverts the polarity of a polarity control signal and a data voltage. The polarity signal control unit generates the polarity control signal obtained by shifting a horizontal period of the polarity control signal. A data drive circuit(142) converts digital video data to an analog gamma compensation voltage in response to the polarity control signal. The data drive circuit generates an analog data voltage and supplies the data driving circuit to the data lines.
