摘要 Disclosed is a control device, which improves fuel efficiency and drivability, for a hybrid vehicle which can run in either of the following: an EV mode in which a motor (101) is driven using only electrical power from a capacitor (113); or a series mode in which the motor (101) is driven using electrical power generated by a generator (107) from mechanical power from an internal combustion engine. The disclosed control device is provided with: a required drive power derivation unit which uses the speed of the vehicle and the position of the accelerator pedal to derive the drive power required from the motor (101); a required electrical power derivation unit which uses the required drive power and the speed of the motor (101) to derive the electrical power required from the motor (101); a maximum-output setting unit which sets the maximum output of the capacitor (113) on the basis of the state of said capacitor (113); and an internal combustion engine start determination unit which determines, on the basis of the electrical power required from the motor (101), whether or not to start the internal combustion engine (109). If the electrical power required from the motor (101) exceeds the maximum output of the capacitor, the internal combustion engine start determination unit starts the internal combustion engine (109) and switches to series mode.
