<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt driving device capable of preventing generation of a crack in an endless belt starting from a bent spot, and thereby elongating a lifetime of the endless belt, and to provide an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In an intermediate transfer belt unit 40, elastic bodies 101, 102 are provided on the inner circumference of the side end of an intermediate transfer belt 14, respectively along the circumferential direction. Rotating members 201, 202 are mounted on both ends of a follower roller 43, oppositely to the elastic bodies 101, 102 of the intermediate transfer belt 14 respectively, and rotatably and concentrically with respect to the follower roller 43. The rotating members 201, 202 include tapered sections 211, 212, 231, 232, bottom receiving sections 221, 222 for suppressing bending of the intermediate transfer belt 14 at a fixed amount or lower, small diameter sections 241, 242 forming escape grooves 401, 402 entered by the elastic bodies 101, 102 of the intermediate transfer belt 14, and large diameter sections 251, 252. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
