PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy method of identifying the use of an electric drive type transportation using a navigation device. SOLUTION: This method of identifying the electric drive type transportation using at least one magnetic field sensor of the navigation device includes measuring the magnetic field at the location of the navigation device continuously or at least at a predetermined sampling frequency, determining the frequency of the measured magnetic field at the location of the navigation device, determining whether the navigation device is in the electric drive type transportation based on the determined frequency, and, if required, determining the type of the electric drive type transportation.
