PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat exchanger which freely sets a flow method of a refrigerant made to flow in the heat exchanger without being limited by the configuration of a header connected to a flat heat transfer pipe end part, shortens the interval between flat heat transfer pipes in the stage direction and reduces the size or improves heat exchange performance. SOLUTION: The heat exchanger includes: a plurality of plate-shaped fins 2 which are juxtaposed at predetermined intervals between them and gas flows therebetween; the flat heat transfer pipes 1 which is provided to penetrate through the plate-shaped fins 2 in the juxtaposed direction A of the plate-shaped fins 2, have a plurality of refrigerant flow passages formed in a flat cross sectional shape and juxtaposed in the flowing direction D by a plurality of partition walls extended in the juxtaposed direction A, and form a plurality of stages in the direction B orthogonal to each of the juxtaposed direction A of the plate-shaped fins 2 and the flowing direction D of gas; and connection parts 18 interconnecting the ends of two stages of the flat heat transfer pipes 1. The connection part 18 includes a plurality of cylindrical pipes 8 juxtaposed in the flowing direction D of the gas and bent into a U-shape, and two stages of the heat transfer pipes 1 are interconnected via the cylindrical pipes 8.
