PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution which can achieve detection of an ink amount of an ink tank and detection of a recording medium conveyance position, using a common optical sensor in an inkjet recorder. SOLUTION: An optical sensor equipped with a light emitting element for irradiating a light and a light receiving element for receiving a reflecting light that is the reflected irradiation light is provided on a carriage which carries a recording head and the ink tank so that the sensor can be opposed to a recording medium. Thus, the recording medium conveyance position is detected. Further, a prism-like light reflecting part with a first and a second reflecting surfaces for respectively reflecting the light irradiated from the light emitting element by an angle of 90 degrees is provided at a position on a recorder body to which the optical sensor can be opposed. By utilizing the reflecting part, the light is cast on a detection part which is prepared in the ink tank and changes a reflection state of incident light according to the ink amount, whereby the reflecting light is received.
