PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize an increase in a recording time speed caused by gradual decrease of a used nozzle and conveyance amount, the increase occurring at a timing when a position where conveyance is performed by two rollers in a rear end part of the recording medium is switched to a position where conveyance is performed by only a conveyance roller of a downstream side, in a serial printer that uses a recording head where a plurality of nozzles are arranged, and first and second conveyance rollers that are provided at more upstream and downstream side in the conveyance directions than the recording head. SOLUTION: By adjusting a recording start position of a leading end of the recording medium, the number of used recording element and the conveyance amount that are set to the center part can be switched to the number of used recording element and the conveyance amount that are set to an rear end part.
