The button cell comprises two metal housing halves (501, 502), which are separated from one another by an electrically insulating sealing and form a housing having a planar base area (503) and a planar cover area (504) parallel to the base area, an electrode-separator-component having positive and negative electrodes (508, 509) arranged within the housing, and an insulation means. The electrodes are formed as a flat layer and are connected together over an areal separator (508, 509). The electrode layers are aligned orthogonal to the plain base- and cover area. The button cell comprises two metal housing halves (501, 502), which are separated from one another by an electrically insulating sealing and form a housing having a planar base area (503) and a planar cover area (504) parallel to the base area, an electrode-separator-component having positive and negative electrodes (508, 509) arranged within the housing, and an insulation means. The electrodes are formed as a flat layer and are connected together over an areal separator (508, 509). The electrode layers are aligned orthogonal to the plain base- and cover area. The electrode and/or separator are formed in strip- or band shaped manner. The electrode-separator-component exists as spiral-shaped compress, whose front side points out in the direction of the plain base area and the plain cover area. The compress has an axial hollow area in its centre, where the hollow area is partially filled by a compress core. The electrode-separator-component has negative electrode/separator/positive electrode/separator and positive electrode/separator/negative electrode/separator. The positive electrode and/or the negative electrode are connected over a deflector with the housing in the area of the plain base and/or the plain cover area. The insulation means prevents a direct mechanical and electrical contact between the front sides of the compress and the plain base- and cover area. The insulation means is a flat plastic film that is arranged between the front side of the compress and the plain base- and cover area. The ratio of height and diameter of the button cell is 0.15:0.7. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of button cell.
