PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a developing agent having a sharper particle size distribution. SOLUTION: In a method for producing the developing agent, in the formation of aggregated particles, particles in a dispersion liquid have a volume average particle size of 2μm or less when the pH of the dispersion liquid is 7, and also the pH of the dispersion liquid is from 3.0 to 6.9 when the zeta potential of the particles is -30 mV.
