GENE ASSOCIATED WITH ARTERIOSCLEROTIC DISEASE, AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene associated with arteriosclerotic diseases and its use to utilize characteristic features of the gene. SOLUTION: There are provided a method for examining the presence or absence of an arteriosclerotic disease risk factor by using polymorphism mutation found on two kinds of genes identified to be associated with arteriosclerotic diseases such as cerebral infarction as an index based on a large-scale case-control correlation investigation using atherothrombotic cerebral infarction as a target; a method for screening a therapeutic agent for arteriosclerotic diseases by using expression or function of the gene as an index; and a therapeutic and preventing agent for arteriosclerotic diseases to suppress the expression of the gene.
