<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein, in positioning operation in which a developing gap between a photosensitive drum and a developing roller is set to a predetermined value by bringing abutting member of a photosensitive unit into abutting contact against that of a developing unit, the developing gap cannot be precisely set to the predetermined value even if dust and smears adhere to the abutting surfaces, and thus excellent image quality cannot be obtained. <P>SOLUTION: In positioning operation, an image forming apparatus includes a cleaning mechanism 300 having cleaners 303 and 307 that clean the abutting surfaces, by retreating while sliding on the abutting surfaces, when the abutting surfaces of an abutting member 102 of the photosensitive unit and a DS roller 202 of the developing unit, are brought close each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
