PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of easily identifying presence/absence of data missing of image data.

SOLUTION: In order to determine data missing of an image of a document 2 that becomes a source, in an MFP 1, a document 3 is first created by synthesizing a missing detection image 4 that is an image for determining data missing so as to overlap a source document image of the document 2. It is then determined in the MFP 1 whether or not data missing occurs when the synthesis document 3 is copied. As for the determination of data missing, the determination is made on the basis of whether or not data missing occurs in the missing detection image 4. A copy document 5 is obtained by copying the synthesis document 3 when it is determined that data missing does not occur in a missing detection image 6. A copy document 7 is obtained by copying the synthesis document 3 when it is determined that data missing occurs in a missing detection image 8.
