PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honing method capable of forming clear crosshatching sufficiently functioning as an oil sump even under a severe lubricating environment such as in watersoluble honing, and being applied to mass production. SOLUTION: The honing method carries out a dressing step S2 carrying out dressing of a grinding tool 4 by making a grinding tool 4 with a bore inner peripheral surface W1 and removing grinding chips D between abrasive grains 4a on a surface of the grinding tool 4; a cutting-in step S3 grinding by making the grinding tool 4 cut in the bore inner peripheral surface W1; and a spark-out step S4 reciprocating the grinding toll 4 in an axial direction several times while grinding the bore inner peripheral surface W1 by elastic diameter decrease of the bore inner peripheral surface W1 in a state that a diametrical direction position of the grinding tool 4 is fixed.
