PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-adhesive which has a new structure and can remarkably improve water absorbing power and transparency. SOLUTION: The self-adhesive 1 comprises a hydrophobic substance 11, a hydrophilic substance 12 and a polyhydric alcohol 13. In a continuous phase formed of the hydrophobic substance 11, the hydrophilic substance 12 swollen by the polyhydric alcohol 13 continuously and/or discontinuously exists. The self-adhesive 1 contains 5-55 wt.% of the hydrophilic substance 12 and 2-45 wt.% of the polyhydric alcohol 13 and water absorption expressed by formula (1): water absorption (%)=ä(specimen weight after absorption/specimen weight before absorption)-1}×100 is 90% or more after 60 minutes.
