PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gray toner for electrostatic charge image development giving a gray image with balanced colors, and also to provide a method for producing the gray toner for electrostatic charge image development, and an image forming method using the gray toner for electrostatic charge image development. SOLUTION: The gray toner for electrostatic charge image development comprises toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, wherein a solid image, which is formed of only the gray toner for electrostatic charge image development under the condition of a toner deposition amount of 4.0 g/m<SP>2</SP>, shows a lightness L<SP>*</SP>of 30 to 90 and a color saturation C<SP>*</SP>of not more than 10 in the L<SP>*</SP>a<SP>*</SP>b<SP>*</SP>color system. The colorant comprises at least two kinds of carbon black having different number average primary particle diameters. The two kinds of carbon black are a first carbon black having a number average primary particle diameter of 40 to 100 nm and a second carbon black having a number average primary particle diameter of less than 40 nm.
