The device has a traction device i.e. push pull cable (12), provided for transmission of a pulling action between an actuation device (14) and a locking handle (10), and unblocking the handle. The traction device has a rope section placed around a lower side of a deflecting unit i.e. transmission pipe, which is arranged within a region of a drag axis (3) of a backrest frame (1). The traction device has a traction power-transferring rope section guided on an upper side of the unit. The rope sections are connected for executing a length compensation in different pivot positions of the frame.
