The method involves heating a zone of a work piece (2) at a high temperature and inserting the heated work piece into a heat insulated or heated deformation device (6). The work piece is deformed into an intermediate molded article, where the zone remains at a temperature above a pre-determined micro-structural deformation temperature at the work piece in the deformation device. An intermediate molded article (16) is transferred into a cold deformation device (7). An independent claim is also included for a device for sheet deformation.
