COATING, CUTTING TOOL, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING COATING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating having excellent abrasion resistance and excellent deposition resistance under a high-temperature environment, a cutting tool including the coating, and a method for manufacturing the coating. SOLUTION: The coating contains at least one oxide layer. The composition of the oxide layer is expressed by formula (1): (Al1-xZrx)2O3(1+y). In formula (1), x denotes the real number to satisfy inequality 0.01≤x≤0.07, and y denotes the real number to satisfy inequality -0.1≤y≤0.2. The oxide layer has a gamma-alumina type crystalline structure and an amorphous structure.
