PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience in copying video data to a server device, and to improve convenience of reproducing the video data, which have been copied to the service device, in a client device. SOLUTION: The video recording apparatus includes: a means for inputting video information containing video data and unique reproduction control information unique to a recording format; a means for determining the recording format; a means for reading out the unique reproduction control information on the basis of the recording format determined and producing common reproduction control information, which is obtained by converting the read-out unique reproduction control information to a general format not depending upon the recording format, containing time map information in which reproduction time information is associated with the amount of data in a predetermined frame unit of video data; a means for recording the video information and the common reproduction control information on a recording medium; and a means for transferring to a request source the common reproduction control information and the video data requested over a computer network.
