<p>A device (1) for separating or fractionating blood into the cellular components of the blood and blood plasma. The device comprises: a filter arrangement (2), which forms an inlet chamber (4) and an outlet chamber (5) by means of filter elements (3) arranged inside; and a receptacle (6) for the cellular blood components; and a receptacle (7) for the blood plasma. The inlet chamber (4) can be connected by a conduit on the entry side to a blood source (10) and is connected on the exit side to the receptacle (6) for cellular blood components. The outlet chamber (5) is connected by a conduit on the exit side to the receptacle (7) for the blood plasma. The conduits consist of flexible plastic tubing with each conduit (17, 20 and 23) being connected to the external environment by a terminating, hydrophobic, porous, water-impermeable and steam permeable bacterial filter (18, 21 and 24). The device is steam sterilisable from within by allowing steam to move into the device via the filters.</p> |
