PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing saw palmetto extract is provided to ensure stability, anti-inflammatory effects, and moisturizing effects without side effects. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition contains 0.10-10.0 weight% of saw palmetto extract. The cosmetic composition is manufactured in the form of essence, lotion, or nutrition cream. The cosmetic composition has effects of anti-inflammation, antibacterial, anti-fungi, or atopic dermatitis treatment. A method for preparing saw palmetto extract comprises: a step of washing, drying, and pulverizing saw palmetto fruits; a step of adding 100 weight parts of crushed saw palmetto fruits in a mixture solution of ethanol and distilled water and extracting at 55-65°C for 6-8 hours; and a step of adding crushed saw palmetto fruits to mixture solution of ethanol, butylene glycol, and distilled water and extracting at 55-65°C for 6-8 hours.
