发明名称 Improvements in or relating to applying non-metallic coatings to surfaces
摘要 924,720. Coating by vapour deposition. LANDIS & GYR A.G. July 29, 1960 [Aug. 5, 1959], No. 26470/60. Class 82. Electroconductive, non-metallic coatings are produced on heatresisting supports, which are inserted into or form part of a closed chamber, by introducing into the chamber or a vessel in communication therewith a predetermined quantity of reagents necessary to form the desired coating, heating the surfaces to be coated and evacuating the chamber, and then heating the reagents until they vaporize and react on contact with the heated surfaces to form the desired coating thereon. As shown, a discharge tube comprising glass parts 10 to 13 may be provided with electrodes comprising electroconductive metallic oxide, e.g. stannic oxide, layers 20, 21 by heating the surfaces to be coated with a heating device 28 outside the tube, which is evacuated by means of a pump 27 via tube 26 connected to the upper tube connection 19, and then heating the reagents 25, e.g. aqueous stannous chloride solution, in a communicating vessel 24; the stannous oxide layers 20, 21 formed are converted to stannic oxide when the vacuum is broken to allow air in. Parts of the heated support not to be coated may be masked by a heat-resisting medium 22, e.g. of powdered graphite, fire clay, mica or glass, or a heatresisting coating may be applied, e.g. alumina, magnesia or graphite, the medium or coating being subsequently removed. Metal discs 16, 17, e.g. of molybdenum, may be fused into the tube ends 11, 12 for connection to the electrode layers 20, 21. Another example (not illustrated) describes the coating of quartz filaments vertically suspended in an auxiliary vessel at least partially heated inside. The heat-resisting support may also be of a ceramic.
