<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of achieving the prolongation of the life of a developing means and surely conveying transfer material without causing cost increase, with respect to an image forming apparatus forming an image while conveying the transfer material in a nearly vertical direction. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, the image is formed by successively transferring the images formed by a plurality of image forming means 8M to 8K to the transfer material 1 while the material 1 passes through respective transfer nips T1 to T4 formed by a transfer material conveying and feeding means 7 and all the image carriers 9M to 9K of the plurality of image forming means 8M to 8K, wherein the image forming means used when forming the image can be selected out of the plurality of image forming means 8M to 8K. The image forming apparatus includes a control means for controlling image carrier driving means and developing driving means, when forming the image, to drive the image carrier of the image forming means which is not used for forming the image, and stop the driving of the developing means of the image forming means which is not used for forming the image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
