PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable power semiconductor device for an igniter, by realizing the software cutoff function for surely protecting a semiconductor switching element when abnormal condition is caused, in a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This power semiconductor device for the igniter includes the semiconductor switching element for carrying-cutting off a primary side current of an ignition coil and an integrated circuit for controlling driving of the semiconductor switching element. The integrated circuit includes a first discharge means for discharging and cutting off electric charge stored in the control terminal of the semiconductor switching element so as to generate ignition plug flying spark voltage on the secondary side of the ignition coil in ordinary operation and a second discharge means for discharging and cutting off the electric charge stored in the control terminal of the semiconductor switching element slower than the first discharge means so that the secondary side voltage of the ignition coil becomes the ignition plug flying spark voltage or less when detecting an abnormal state.
