The invention relates to a chemical binder meant to be used in the manufacturing of refractory products and to a process for preparing the same. According to the invention, the binder is prepared by the reaction of 27.8% hydrochloric acid with a content of 32% HCl, 0.005 % iron, 0.05% SOat a density of 1.24 g/cmwith 5.5% aluminium powder having a grain size of at least 98% with sieve residue of 0.3 mm and density of 1 g/cmand 67% water, until hydrogen release stops, the reaction mass being then cooled down to the ambient temperature and diluted with water up to a density of 1.24 g/cm.
