POWDER PARTICLES, METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME, AND FRICTION MATERIAL USING THE POWDER PARTICLES

Disclosed are powder particles, each of which is composed of an agglomerate of layered clay minerals or an agglomerate of layered clay minerals and granular or odd-shaped metal compounds. The powder particles have non-spherical structures having an average particle diameter (d50) of 1-300 µm. The powder particles are produced by subjecting an aqueous suspension, which contains layered clay minerals or layered clay minerals and granular or odd-shaped metal compounds, to disk spray drying. Also disclosed is a friction material which uses fired powder particles that are obtained by firing the above-described powder particles.
