PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high purity vaterite type spherical calcium carbonate, in which vaterite in the slurry after carbonation reaction is stabilized without using an additive for stabilization to inhibit conversion to calcite. SOLUTION: In the method for producing vaterite type spherical calcium carbonate, when vaterite type calcium carbonate is synthesized by carbonating CaCl<SB>2</SB>or Ca(NO<SB>3</SB>)<SB>2</SB>in an aqueous solution, the resulting slurry after the reaction is adjusted to Ca concentration of 0.250-0.625 mol/L, a temperature of 0-10°C and a pH of≥9.5, provided that one or more conditions selected from the Ca concentration of 0.250-0.550 mol/L, the temperature of 0-8°C and the pH of≥9.7 are satisfied.
