POLARIZING PLATE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL COMPRISING THE SAME DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A polarizing plate and liquid crystal display device with the same are provided to use an inexpensive protection film with a high phase difference when the liquid crystal display device is used as an upper polarizing plate, thereby maintaining quality of an image. CONSTITUTION: A first protection film, a polarization attenuating layer, a polarizer, a second protection film, and an adhesive layer are sequentially laminated on a polarizing plate. The first protection film has a frontal retardation value which is larger than 300nm. The refractive index ratio of the first protection film is NZ>1 or NZ<0 wherein NZ is the refractive index ratio. The haze of the polarization attenuating layer is limited under 50% to eliminate rainbow smudges. The second protection film protects the polarizer.
