PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing grape seed proanthocyanidine extract(GSPE) is provided to effectively suppress air way inflammation and airway hypersensitivity. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating inflammatory or obstructive airway diseases contains grape seed proanthocyanidine extract(GSPE) and pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The pharmaceutical composition additionally contains anti-inflammatory agent, bronchodilator, antihistaminic agent, decongestant, or antitussive drug. The pharmaceutical composition is used in the form of powders, granules, tablets, capsules, suspensions, emulsions, syrups, aerosols, external use, or suppository.
