L-Lysine is produced by culturing an Escherichia coli having an L-lysine-producing ability, which has been modified to decrease activity or activities of one or more enzymes of the meso-±,µ-diaminopimelic acid synthesis pathway, for example, 2,3,4,5-tetrahydropyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate N-succinyltransferase, succinyldiaminopimelate transaminase, succinyldiaminopimelate desuccinylase, and diaminopimelate epimerase, and into which a gene coding for diaminopimelate dehydrogenase has been introduced, in a medium, and collecting L-lysine from the medium. |
