A power hand tool, such as a hammer drill, includes a mechanism for switching the tool between multiple modes. The switch 14 is retained in its setting by spring 16 attached to the transmission 30 which engages with a detent 60 on the switch. If the switch is between modes then the spring biases it towards one mode, ideally by a camming action on the detent. The spring can be fastened to the transmission by the same screws 28 which hold two parts of the transmission together. One of the two parts can be the internally toothed stationary gear ring 26 of a planetary gear box. The spring can bias the switch towards various modes when it is between modes. The switch preferably interacts with components of the transmission via a resilient wire 42. The tool may be battery operated.
|
