<p>The device has a laser (2), motor (5) and a deflection element (4) i.e. polygon mirror, that are provided for radiating a storage phosphor layer (1) with stimulation light to activate the layer for transmitting emission light. A photomultiplier (7) detects the light provided by the layer and converts the light into a detector signal. A modulator modulates sensitivity of the photomultiplier with a periodic carrier signal (T), such that a modulated detector signal (S) is obtained. A digital processing unit demodulates the modulated signal, such that a demodulated detector signal is obtained. An independent claim is also included for a method for reading X-ray information stored in a storage phosphor layer.</p> |
