<p>The device (1) has damping chambers (2, 3) coupled with each other by flow channels (4, 5) that are provided with magnetorheological fluid (38). A magnetic device (10) is provided to expose a magnetic field to the flow channels. A magnetic field generating device (8) performs a permanent change of magnetic field strength of the magnetic device by a magnetic pulse. Permanent magnetization of the magnetic device is adjustable by a magnetic pulse of the magnetic field generating device to a value between zero and the remanence, where the polarity of magnetization is changeable. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a damping device.</p> |
