PURPOSE: A packet detection method of an MB-OFDM UVWB system is provided to perform a packet detection function more effectively under various SNR and multiple paths fading channel environment, by reducing the factor of causing an error of packet detection probability according to the amplitude of an input signal. CONSTITUTION: A packet detector(4) includes an energy calculator(20), a mutual correlator(30), a power calculator(40), an amplitude normalize(50), a correlator(60), an energy value controller(70) and a detector(80). The mutual correlator calculates a mutual correlation value between a signal received according to the MB-OFDM UWB method and a preamble code value(10) of a receiver. The detector detects a valid packet.
