PURPOSE: A bridge-type machine tool with an improved horizontal transfer structure is provided to implement high-speed and high-precision machining by reducing surface pressure on a sliding surface of Y-axis direction. CONSTITUTION: A bridge-type machine tool with an improved horizontal transfer structure comprises a bed, a work table which is installed on the bed, columns which are erected on both sides of the bed, a cross rail(70) which is installed across the columns, a saddle(90) which is arranged on the cross rail and transferred from side to side along a guide way(75), and a movable load bearing member(100) which is installed on the upper surface(71) or the rear surface(72) of the guide way between the cross rail and the saddle.
