PURPOSE: Device and method for sensing failure of the driving unit of a pump motor are provided to enhance the running stability of a vehicle since if failure is sensed, the failure of the driving unit of a pump motor can be early sensed without noise. CONSTITUTION: A device for sensing failure of the driving unit of a pump motor comprises a micro control unit(21), a pre-driver(22) and a motor driving FET(23). The micro control unit outputs an ultra short pulse of a pump-motor driving command. The pre-driver amplifies the pump-motor driving command. The motor driving FET is switched according to the pump-motor driving command amplified from the pre-driver to supply motor-driving voltage to the pump motor. The micro control unit senses the failure of the pump-motor driving unit from the motor-driving voltage by the pump-motor driving command.
