<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape feeder capable of supplying an electronic component to a pickup position with horizontal posture at all times. <P>SOLUTION: In the tape feeder, a carrier tape 1 stores the electronic component P in a pocket 2 formed through embossing, and sends it pitch by pitch on the upper surface of a guide rail 12 by a pitch feeding unit, so that the carrier tape 1 is passed through the pickup position S of the electronic component P.
