APPARATUS AND METHOD MEASURING DAMAGE ON SURFACE OF CASTING ROLL IN TWIN ROLL STRIP CASTER

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring surface damage of a casting roll of a twin roll type strip caster are provided to measure a degree of damage of the casting roll and minimize a thickness variation of a strip edge. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring surface damage of a casting roll of a twin roll type strip caster includes a displacement sensor, a distance meter, a proximity sensor, and a calculation device. The displacement sensor measures the concavo-convex parts of the surface of a rotating casting roll. The distance meter comes into contact with the surface of the casting roll and measures the length of an arc. The proximity sensor senses the rotating state of the casting roll to confirm a rotation reference point and to measure the rotating speed of the casting roll.
