PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for short distance motion correction de-interlacing are provided to use a motion correction interpolation value in de-interlacing in the more reliability of the minimum SAD. CONSTITUTION: If the minimum SAD(Sum of Absolute Differences) is less than an TH1, a system checks the smoothness and consistency of a motion correction interpolation value(110,120). In case one of the smoothness check or the consistency check fails, the system uses a spatial interpolation value for the de-interlacing of an interlaced frame(125,140). In case the minimum SAD exceeds the TH1 but less than a TH2, the system performs an additional check(150,160).
