摘要 FIELD: process engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composite diamond-containing materials, namely, to determination of amount of active abrasive grains in composite material in friction and wear proceeding from data of microscopic analysis of composite material surface layer. Cube is selected as geometrical model of abrasive grain. Amount of active abrasive grains in abrasive material in its initial state (no) and that after wear and friction tests (ne) is determined. Relative change in amount of active abrasive grains is defined from relation: C=(n0-ne/n0)ù100%. Amount of active abrasive grains in abrasive material is determined by summing abrasive grains in each of size groups. Amount of size groups is defined proceeding from stochastic distribution of random sections of cubic shape in composite material surface layer volume. ^ EFFECT: higher efficiency of grinding, wear resistance and performances of abrasive tools. ^ 2 dwg, 3 tbl
