METHOD FOR DETERMINING THRESHOLD LIMITS OF SENSITIVITY OF BIOINDICATOR TO EFFECT OF STRESSORS

A method for determining threshold limits of sensitivity of a bioindicator or to the effect of stressors includes determining a toxicant rate and effect of action of a stressor on the bioindicator using a method of probit analysis. The effect of action of the stressor is determined according to the threshold limits of sensitivity of the bioindicator. The minimum and maximum threshold limits of sensitivity are determined with the aid of the probit analysis. The lower limit of sensitivity of the bioindicator is determined as the first probable distinction in the manifestation of corresponding reactions of the bioindicator on a toxicant rate as compared to a control, and the upper limit of sensitivity is determined as the first concentration providing for a response to the action of a rate of the stressor. Ant caterpillars of the silkworm moth Bombyx mori L. are used as the bioindicator.
