A method for the objective determination of nasal valve function comprises the displacement of patient's cheek soft tissue by physician hand away from the midline during quiet breathing, the patient survey for the improvement of breathing through tinvestigated nose half,interpretation of study results. The procedures for dynamic rhynomanometry in forced breathing, pre-processing and analysis of rhynomanometry data are introduced including the determination of the duration of the front and back edges of the inhalation phase (and, respectively), global maximum and numberofair flow local maximal, the averaging of obtained results according to the entire timeline of breath, determination of quantitative indicators for the nasal valve: relationshipbetween the average duration of the front and back edges and the average numberof local maximum of the air signal flow. The criteria for operation of nasal valve: at K>2 and≥ 1 the nasal valve functioning is dtermined as a normal physiological one and in other cases the nasal valve rigidity, accepting distinct form at K<1.5 and=0. |
