PURPOSE: A polymer electrolyte membrane for a fuel cell is provided to prevent the deterioration of the performance of a fuel cell in an electrolyte membrane based on a hydrocarbon-based cation exchange resin and to improve gas barrier property and long term durability. CONSTITUTION: A polymer electrolyte membrane for a fuel cell comprises a cation exchange resin based on a hydrocarbon having hydrogen ion conductivity and fibrous nanoparticles having a hydrophilic group. A mixing ratio of the cation exchange resin based on a hydrocarbon having hydrogen ion conductivity and fibrous nanoparticles having a hydrophilic group is 99.9 : 0.1 - 91 : 9. The diameter of fibrous nanoparticles having a hydrophilic group is 1 - 200 nm and the length thereof is 1 -20 μm.
