The element (1) has a joint element (11) intended to form a connection between two base bodies (10, 20). The connection authorizes relative rotation between the two base bodies. A locking element (14) permits locking of the connection between two base bodies when the base bodies are positioned with respect to each other. One of the base bodies includes a fixation point (15) in which the locking unit includes a plate element (142) that is provided with fixation units (16, 140) permitting to maintain the fixation point at a given distance (D). An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a safety barrier.
