<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in an unused area in a semiconductor system having a plurality of areas. <P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor system includes a plurality of core chips CC0-CC7 each including internal power supply generation circuits 70b-70d, and an interface chip IF for controlling the core chips CC0-CC7. The interface chip IF includes an unused-chip information holding circuit 33 for holding unused-chip information DEF about the core chips CC0-CC7. The core chips CC0-CC7 receive corresponding unused-chip information DEF from the unused-chip information holding circuit 33, and when the unused-chip information DEF indicates an unused state, inactivate the internal power supply generation circuits 70b-70d, and when the unused-chip information DEF indicates a used state, activate the internal power supply generation circuits 70b-70d.
