PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that prevents drops of end temperatures; and to provide an image forming apparatus incorporating the mixing device. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: an induction heat coil (52); a coil holding portion (53) having a circular inclosing face opposite the external surface of a heating member (46) and used for placing a coil thereon; and a core (58) forming a magnetic path around the coil. The coil includes: a pair of linear portions (52a), with the circumference of the core therebetween, each extending along the rotation axis of the heat member; and a pair of folded portions (52b), with the end face of the core therebetween, each continuing from the corresponding ends of the straight portions. The coil holding portion has a heat generation performance-enhancing means (53t) for shortening the distance between each folded portion and the heating member, compared with the distance between each straight portion and the heating member.
