A lathe &c. tool comprises a holder 10, a tip support 12 dowelled and screwed into the holder at 13, 14, a hard metal plate 15, a tip 16, a clamping plate 17 located on support 12 by a rib 18, and a chip-breaker 23. The latter is longitudinally adjustable in a groove 22 on plate 17 by a screw 24, and the groove has at least one bevelled edge 23a which engages a corresponding face on the chip-breaker. A stop formed by a cylindrical flexible metal strip 25 prevents the accidental loss of the chip breaker but allows removal of the latter. It is stated that the tool may be a planing tool or a milling cutter. |
