PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus or the like executing a suitable image processing according to image signal in a situation where an up-converted image signal may be input.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 120 included in a projector 100 includes: an image quality improvement processing unit 124 executes image quality improvement processing to first image data 132 based on the image signal which is supplied from an image supply device and thus generates second image data 136; resolution deciding unit 126 which compares the first image data 132 with the second image data 136 and thus decides resolution of the original image; and a control unit 128 which controls the image quality improvement processing unit 124 according to the resolution of the original image and thus adjusts the image quality improvement processing.
