PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery which can improve cycle characteristics and storage characteristics.

SOLUTION: The secondary battery includes a positive electrode 21, a negative electrode 22, and an electrolyte. The separator 23 arranged between the positive electrode 21 and negative electrode 22 is impregnated with the electrolyte. A non-aqueous solvent of the electrolyte contains at least one of 1, 2-cyclopentane diol cyclic carbonate and its derivative. As chemical stability of the electrolyte is improved, decomposition reaction of the electrolyte during charge and discharge can be suppressed.
