<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cotton fabric treatment method that improves water transpiration properties, improves unpleasantness such as sticky feeling with sweat, a cold feeling after sweating, etc., and provides a cotton fabric in direct contact with the skin with water dispersion promotion ability and a water dispersion promoter for providing a cotton fabric in direct contact with the skin with water dispersion promotion ability. <P>SOLUTION: [1] The cotton fabric treatment method includes attaching a compound (A) composed of (a-1) an alcohol that is a 7C-11C straight-chain hydrocarbon group-containing aliphatic alcohol, a 7C-20C branched-chain hydrocarbon group-containing aliphatic alcohol or their mixture and/or (a-2) a compound represented by general formula (1) R<SP>1</SP>-O-(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>n</SB>-H [wherein R<SP>1</SP>is 7C-20C branched-chain hydrocarbon; n is number of average addition mols and number of 1-3] to a cotton fabric in direct contact with the skin and providing the cotton fabric with water dispersion promotion ability.
